Citizenship and Photo Identification Requirements
AmeriCorps State and National positions require applicants to be at least 17 years of age, a United States citizen or a United States national or lawful permanent resident of the United States. Additionally, ICAP members must be current students in good standing with one of our campus sites (in some cases, members can continue to serve after they have graduated).
A citizenship check is automatically conducted through the online AmeriCorps system when members enroll, so members no longer need to submit proof of citizenship. In some cases, however, where citizenship cannot be verified, members may be asked to provide proof of citizenship including birth certificate, social security card, passport, or other documents as requested.
To verify age and identity, all members must provide a copy of a government-issues photo id such as a drivers' license and this must be submitted to IACC with the member's enrollment paperwork.
